The Yarra Valley has always produced world class Cabernet Sauvignon, a grape arguably best suited to its climate then any other. While many of them command prices that put them in the upper tier of premium wines, this little number from Soumah comes in under the radar with great value. It has the savoury, herbal and cedar notes sitting along the blackcurrant fruit that you’d hope for in a good, ripe cabernet. Its new oak is present but light, just as the tannins are softer, so its lovely to drink now, but can age for a few more years too. Its elegant, and will go great with bbq’s and roasts.
